Language and Test
The Australian citizenship test assesses your knowledge of Australian values, history, society and the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship. It consists of multiple‑choice questions and includes five questions on Australian values; you must answer all five correctly and achieve an overall score of at least 75% to pass.
Most applicants aged 18–59 must take the test. Applicants under 18 or over 60 and those with certain disabilities may be exempt. The test is offered in English, so you need a basic understanding of the language. You can study the Department of Home Affairs’ resource booklet to prepare.
